SUMMARIES OF THE SCRIPTURES

A LAYMAN'S THEOLOGY

1.  THE BEGINNING

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth[1]” the creation of the spiritual, the material and the creation of time. God created it perfect. The Earth as implied the center of His creation. The angels are said to rejoice[2] when the earth was laid. Lucifer[3] as he was called before he sinned was active in God’s creation[4]. Satan prized the throne of God.[5] His sin defiled the universe[6]. The earth became absent of God’s light because of Satan’s sin “…was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep[7]. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters”

2.  SATAN VS. GOD

A cosmic battle between God and his anointed Cherub began when that Cherub (Satan) sinned. “Above the stars of God I shall lift up my throne, and I shall sit down upon the mountain of meeting.”[8] The purpose of Satan is quite clear to take God’s throne. God exiled him out of heaven[9]. Creation and the angels who did not follow after Satan waits the day he will be judge along with the angels that followed him[10]. Satan because of Adam’s sin is ruler[11] of this world. This is not to say that he rules the world completely; God in His infinite wisdom allows Satan to operate with limits and has allowed Satan to operate with an agenda. Satan’s powers are limited to unbelievers[12]believers are under God’s protection[13] and only as God allows, can he test believers[14].

3.  GOD AND CREATION

God’s perfectly created creation now was defiled by Satan’s sin God began to renovate His fallen creation,[15] preparing it habitable for Adam. After God created Adam in His own image[16] he placed him in Eden the Garden of God. God in His infinite wisdom prepared for this day[17] (in the creation of Adam). God gave the rule[18] over His creation to Adam his son[19]. After the failure of Adam to be obedient to God, Adam sin caused God to curse the earth[20]. Creation that was to be restored by Adam is now waiting for manifestation of the Sons of God[21]

4.  ADAM AND THE FALL

God created Adam in his image and likeness. God gave Adam a freewill. In the Garden God gave Adam a responsibility[22] and a restriction in the age[23] of innocence. He was to dress and tend the Garden and not to eat of the tree of the Knowledge of good and evil[24]. God created Adam for him and his descendants to rule and subdue the earth[25] but Satan had his own agenda he would cause Adam to fall and so He would be ruler[26] over God’s creation. God in His infinite wisdom had provided redemption for Adam before the foundation of the world[27] in the person of Jesus Christ the Second and Last Adam[28]. The declaration in the Garden after the fall[29] of a promised seed from the woman’s seed[30] would be the fall of Satan and his agenda. God provided an animal covering signifying shed blood as a covering for them. God exiled Adam and Eve from the Garden. They now were to live a life separated from God. God extends his Grace and mercy to Man and gives him a responsibility but not a restriction leaving Adamkind to find his way back to God by their conscience[31].

5.  MAN AFTER THE FALL

After the fall of the Garden Satan’s agenda was to destroy the human race and the promise seed. Adam began to propagate but his descendants were born in Adams’ likeness in Adams’ image[32] fallen creatures. They were not the sons of God[33].  Sin was inherited[34] through Adam’s seed, death (physical) and separation from God (spiritual death) was the result. All born of Adam are Satan’s children[35] God exiled Adam and Eve[36] from the Garden and protected the Tree of Life that could make them immortal sinners.

Satan and God’s agenda were quite clear. Satan wanted to subject Adamkind and destroy the chosen seed so he could rule in his Kingdom.  God’s agenda was to reconcile Adamkind through the woman’s[37] seed to rule his kingdom in his stead. Adam and Eve began to propagate[38] in hope of the promised seed being born. Adam and Eve begot Cain and Abel and continue populating having more sons and daughters. Satan’s attempt to over throw God was the murder of Abel. Satan’s influence over Cain gave the world its first murder[39].  Satan attacked the seed line again with fallen angels (the Sons of God[40]). They cohabited with the daughters of Adam and bore giants. God saw that mankind’s heart was wicked[41] when left to be guide only by conscience so he destroyed mankind by a flood[42] save one righteous man Noah and his family.

6.  MAN AFTER THE FLOOD

After the Flood God in his Grace and Mercy continued mankind through Noah. Failing to regulate his actions when left to his conscience God now institutes human Government. God gives Noah some responsibilities[43] and restrictions[44] to guide him in replenishing the earth. Satan begins to influence his children in becoming one under the mighty warrior Nimrod[45] the beginning of his Kingdom was Babel[46]. Man began uniting “Let us make us a name” man wanted to live without God. God’s judgment came upon man and He confused their language[47] Satan’s attempt for one government (United Nations) failed.

7.  GOD CALLS A NEW  PEOPLE

God in His infinite wisdom prepared a people for himself through which the promise seed would be born.  Out of His Grace[48] He chose Abram. God promised Abram that through his lineage the Savior would be born. The seed of Abraham[49] would go through Isaac and Jacob who is the father of nation of Israel[50]. As Abraham began to multiply and Israel grew in numbers a famine forced them into Egypt. Moses arose as a great leader during their time in Egypt. He led them out of Egypt to a land that had God promised them.

8.  NATION OF ISRAEL

After Moses led the people of Israel out of Egypt[51] Israel was given the Law[52] to rule themselves in the moral, social and ceremonial life as a nation God being the King[53]. Through the Nation of Israel the Savior would come and it would come through the line of Judah. Israel would be a beacon to the nations of the earth and declared God to mankind. But as all other tests given to man Israel failed[54]. Israel as God’s chosen people are heirs of God’s unconditional Grace[55] and promises. Satan agenda[56] was now to destroy Israel so that the Savior could not be born.

9.  JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ has many titles in scripture Son of God, the Word, Son of Man, the second Adam and Last Adam. Mankind needed a redeemer in order that the gulf between God and His creation could be reconciled Jesus Christ being that Redeemer. His life, death, and resurrection provided redemption. He was fully man and fully God[57]. As a man He was a descendant of Adam before Adam sinned. This is why He is called the Second Adam and the Last Adam. Original sin which is passed on and inherited by all mankind [58](man’s seed) was not in Jesus who was born of the Woman’s seed. The Seed of the Woman which possess the original genetics of unfallen Adam grew to be the Second and Last Adam without sin[59]. This provided a perfect body (as the first Adam) so that He could not only redeem mankind but Adam any lesser sacrifice would not suffice. Justice demands an equal or greater sacrifice. By His obedient[60] life Jesus fulfilled the requirement of the Law.  He was condemned unjustly and he willfully[61] sacrificed his life for Adamkind. For His obedience the Father raised Him for the dead. Jesus now sits on the throne to Judge all mankind He is also King-High Priest.[62] During Jesus life Satan tested[63] Jesus and thought he was victorious having Jesus executed on the cross.

10.  BELIEVERS

This is a most controversial subject. All believers were chosen before the foundation of the world[64]. Believers are a gift from the Father[65] to the Son for His finished work on the cross. The chosen are the lost[66] that the shepherd seeks out.  Faith comes from God[67] and faith is the only thing you need[68] for salvation, faith alone. It is a God only work[69]. It is by God’s good pleasure[70] that He chooses. Salvation is by Grace through Faith. Faith is a work of the Holy Spirit who uses the Word[71] of God to bring forth salvation. It is an act of freewill[72] this Grace is irresistible[73].

11.  THE WORLD

The world[74] the system of the reality of human experience is under Satan’s rule. He is the “god of this world[75]. He influences ideals, opinions, goals, hopes and views of the majority of people of the world. His areas of influence[76] also reach to the world’s philosophies, education, and commerce. The thoughts, ideas, speculations and false religions of the world are under his control and have sprung from his lies and deceptions. Satan compels or entices his prey to follow him whether they realize it or not he is the Father[77] of the non-elect. He does have limits for God is Sovereign. Since the Cross, Satan tries to discredit the True Church with his lies. He waits for Jesus coming to do battle at Armageddon.

12.  THE CHURCH[78]

Satan’s apparent victories in the Garden of Eden and on Calvary were vindicated in the resurrection. Mankind had failed God’s tests in every age but Jesus Christ fulfilled the Law requirements of God. What was hidden in previous ages was now being revealed in Christ through the Church the New Man[79]. The Church is the Temple[80] of God, the Body of Christ[81] and also the Bride of Christ. The church is the appointed vessel that God is showing His manifold Wisdom[82] In this dispensation of Grace[83] the church (the elect) are to emulate[84] our Lord. When He walked this earth He gathered and taught His disciples in the tradition of a Jewish rabbi[85]. He commands us to do the same make disciples of men[86]. We have the Holy Spirit who is our teacher[87] to accomplish this. He gives to us leaders to edify[88] the body unto good works, which he has appointed to us before the foundation of the world.

This church age is about seeking out the lost. It’s the time of sowing and watering. The church age believers are to proclaim Christ so the lost are drawn to him into the family of God, being no longer stranger and foreigner but citizen[89] in the household of God.

Another command that the Lord gave was to love one another[90]. He says that by this all men will know that we are His. This love will draw the lost and condemn[91] the non-elect. There are two kind of people in the world non-elected (world) and the elected (lost) the children of God and the children of the devil The lost children of God will respond to the proclaimed[92] word of God. The non-elected cannot hear his voice and will not come.

The believers are said to be in a spiritual warfare[93]and should be ready battle for the battle that is brought to us[94]. We often forget that the world hates us and persecution should be a normal thing. Satan wants to discredit us so that God is dishonored. We should put on the full armor of God[95] armed with the sword of spirit that is the Word of God and prayer[96]. The edification of believers should be the primary concern. For faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. There is no replacing the study of God’s Word. It reveals who He is and how to maintain a relationship with him for there is nothing we can do without Him. Praying and praying together[97] brings us closer to him and we should be praying his Word and claiming his promises. In His Word and in prayer we have a vertical connection with him, which gives us the knowledge to have a horizontal relationship with others. When the Word and prayer are at the center of Church life we are able to let God heal us and conform us to the image of Christ.

13. LAST WORDS

This spiritual warfare continues after the Church age and into the Kingdom age. Jesus Christ will battle at the Apocalypse and then judges righteously. He will set all creation right under Him. In the mean time the Church as the New Man reveal to the angels who are yearning and await for God’s plan to unfold.

Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into. Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 1 Peter 1:12-13
